Week 6 Pre-thesis

This week’s one-on-one meeting helped me a lot and redefined and narrowed my theme. I had some pop up ideas about adding martial arts elements before, such as martial arts or Taoist cultivation. The first reason is that I am fascinated by the world of martial arts recently, and the second reason is that Chinese traditional culture is related, such as the Qi of traditional Chinese medicine and the Qi of martial arts. Their essence is the same. But after the one-on-one meeting, Ahmed suggested that I’d better concentrate on the purpose of science popularization at the beginning and don’t add other elements. I accept this suggestion, because I also have a big concern that the addition of martial arts elements is contrary to my original idea. I really want to popularize traditional Chinese medicine, but I don’t want traditional Chinese medicine to have anything to do with other things like Qigong or Falungong that deceive the public by lying. Therefore, I decided to delete the element of martial arts.

In addition, Ahmed helped me sort out the context of my whole project, which can be roughly divided into three parts: acupuncture, eating habits and living habits. In acupuncture and moxibustion, what we want to popularize science is not acupuncture and moxibustion, but acupoint pressing. As for eating habits, I would like to correspond with the acupoints and 24 solar terms mentioned before to prove the correspondence between eating habits and seasons, so as to explain the relationship between man and nature in traditional Chinese medicine. In addition, with regard to living habits, I may want to combine it with the direction of health preservation, such as foot soaking or Taijiquan.

After combing the context of the whole project, my difficulty is how to combine the research in three different directions. I have done a research on interaction. At present, I prefer to set up a small game, which is similar to animal forest and immersive experience game. In addition, after I think about my research object in the face of the public, I have to understand whether my object is the Chinese group or the American group, or take into account the psychology of various countries.
